  1. *Prolonged partial-thromboplastin time might have been the consequence of heparin in the umbilical catheter when the blood sample was taken. Control sample without heparin 5 hours later showed a partial-thromboplastin time of 34 seconds, a normal value; INR remained prolonged 1.80 and prothrombin time was 41%.
